The American Chemistry Council (ACC), a national trade association representing the world’s leading chemical and plastics manufacturers, currently has an opportunity for Director, Product Groups for its Chemical Products and Technology division. ACC represents its members on public policy issues; coordinates the industry’s research and testing programs; and administers Responsible Care®, the industry’s environment, health, safety and security performance improvement initiative.
The position is responsible for serving as the designated staff executive and managing all aspects of assigned groups within the Chemical Products and Technology (CPT) division, including directing administrative, technical, advocacy and planning services. The position will provide support for and manage specific CPT groups and consortia. The position works closely with key internal and external stakeholders and coordinates across ACC on key cross-cutting policy issues. This position reports directly to the Senior Director, CPT.
Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., public policy, technical/science, legal), 8 years project/issue management experience or relevant experience with 3 years of advocacy or related experience with a business, trade, political or policy advocacy organization. Demonstrated knowledge of chemical or related industry and the relevant regulatory environment, experience managing issues and programs for clients with a strong customer service focus, experience with managing and facilitating groups to identify priorities and achieve shared goals and objectives and the ability to design and implement strategy, direction and action plans are a must. Masters or JD or related advanced technical degree. Association, consulting firm, law firm or government experience, strong technical competency, with proven track record of working complex and challenging issues, subject matter expertise in chemistry, chemical or environmental engineering, environmental science, biology, epidemiology, toxicology or risk assessment and experience with laws and regulations affecting the chemical industry, including the Toxic Substances Control Act and other environmental, health and safety regulations are preferred.
Salary Range: $126,750.00 To $152,100.00 annually.
