Overview
Accountable for the overall performance and effectiveness of the Rating, Billing, and detention team in achieving departmental and company goals. This includes providing hands-on support, leadership, and guidance to ensure team members are aligned, engaged, and equipped to meet performance expectations.
Essential Duties:
· Monitor individual performance.
· Provide specific performance coaching and feedback on a regular basis.
· Ensure personnel are knowledgeable of all department duties and responsibilities.
· Maintain billing rate structure in transportation management system.
· Review billing edits to see that rates, customers are accurate
· Assist in setting up new bill to customer accounts and maintaining changes to those accounts.
· Conduct performance feedback reviews
· Ensure EDI and other electronic billing transmissions are properly established and maintained.
· Responsible for the development and documentation of Rating/Billing & Detention Area practices and procedures.
· All other duties as assigned.
· Focal point for problem-solving department interdepartmental concerns.
Educational:
High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics or finance is preferred.
Experience:
Two or more years of experience leading a team in a billing or related role
Strong foundation in billing processes, procedures and systems is essential
Working knowledge of accounts payable and receivable processes
Knowledge of carrier contracts and rate structures
Knowledge of transportation logistics, freight brokerage and related industry practices
Proficient in MS Office, AS400/iSeries and other relevant transportation management software
Knowledge & Skills:
· Understanding of general accounting principles, accounts receivable/payable
· Proficiency in using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems particularly modules for billing and settlements
· Expertise in preparing invoices and resolving billing discrepancies
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff and customers
· Ability to mentor, motivate and supervise team, ensuring effective billing practices
· Strong organizational skills to manage workload, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
· Accuracy and attention to detail are essential for ensuring accurate billing
· Excellent customer service skills to address billing inquiries and resolve issues with customers and drivers
· Understanding of contracts, legal terms and regulatory compliance
· Ability to identify patterns, analyze data and make informed decisions
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Responsible for the organization, leadership, and overall effectiveness of Rating & Billing. This is a working supervisor/manager position, requiring hands-on involvement in day-to-day operations while providing strong leadership and working collaboratively with the team. Responsibilities include setting departmental goals and objectives, training team members, monitoring performance, and supporting their ongoing development.
Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
