Dispatcher This position is responsible for communication from the company to the driver and customer. This is a fast-paced role with a need for efficient multi-tasking, problem-solving, and proficient communication. Must be a team player and enjoy their job.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· Coordinate and schedule transportation activities, including assigning drivers and vehicles to routes.

· Monitor and track the movement of freight and ensure timely delivery.

· Utilize transportation management systems to optimize routes and improve efficiency.

· Collaborate with logistics providers (3PL) to ensure smooth operations.

· Analyze transportation data to identify areas for improvement and cost savings.

· Communicate with drivers, customers, and internal teams to provide updates on delivery status.

· Handle incoming calls and inquiries from drivers, customers, and vendors.

· Maintain accurate records of transportation activities and documentation.

· Assist team members when needed.

· Be the drivers advocate.

· Communicate with your drivers their load information and what is expected of them for each load.

· Communicate with customers to ensure customer service levels are maintained.

· Ensure your drivers are getting all the miles they are legally able to run.

· HOS Knowledge and able to communicate expectations to drivers.

· Manage any home time the drivers request.

· Assist with new hire training to include dispatch procedures, HOS expectations, Workflow processing.

· Watch and coach drivers as needed concerning their HOS.

· Go over-loads with drivers and what is expected of them regarding Trip Plans and communications.

· Communicate with Safety to ensure that all drivers are current and any updates to (med cards,

endorsements, JJ Keller notices, MVR’s etc.) are current.

· When dispatching loads you should be validating that the driver has the HOS to complete the load,

and the equipment is not out of compliance.

· Validate that the driver has a clear understanding of his/her responsibilities for each load dispatched.

· Able to manage assigning loads to fleet, contract carriers, and working with brokers to secure service

to our customer.

· You will be responsible for creating efficiencies in your processes and sharing with the team to

ensure the best posable workflow.

· Be able to keep up with the industry trends and analyze freight data.

· Calling and securing customer delivery appointments.

· Completing assigned reports and tasks by the due date.

· Evaluate and update metrics to assess performance and implement enhancements.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

SKILLS/EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/ABILITIES

REQUIRED:

· Above average utilization of TMW systems preferred. Be adaptable to learn new

software programs as required to maximize fleet usage.

· Must have the ability to communicate accurately and clearly both orally and in writing.

· Customer service oriented with a “can do” approach to your work.

· Must have superior organizational skills and accuracy.

· Excellent problem solving and people skills also required.

· Knowledge of DOT HOS rules and regulations

· Experience with TMW systems preferred.

· Strong verbal, written, multi-tasking and communication skills.

· Ability to perform duties with minimum direction and work in a team environment.
