This role sits in the Global Digital Hub, as part of the AI Shared Services team. The team supports data infrastructure, leverages ABG’s new data lake, integrates tools such as MuleSoft and Salesforce, and delivers scalable AI and automation solutions to enhance efficiency and drive digital transformation across the enterprise.
Role Summary
We are seeking an Azure Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data models that power ABG’s AI initiatives and analytics. This position serves as a key technical role on the AI Shared Services team, with responsibilities centered on data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration throughout an enterprise environment undergoing consolidation.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, comfortable working across raw, curated, and consumption data layers, and understands how strong data engineering practices enable reliable automation, analytics, and AI at scale. This role will work closely with AI team, business analysts, and stakeholders across ABG’s brands to ensure high-quality, trusted data products. A high degree of autonomy is required.
Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering & Platform Development
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Synapse Pipelines, and/or Databricks.
- Ingest and transform data from diverse source systems, including ERP platforms, Salesforce, operational databases, and flat files.
- Develop and manage data transformations using SQL, PySpark, and Python following best practices for performance and maintainability.
- Implement and maintain medallion-style architectures (bronze/silver/gold) within ABG’s Azure data lake.
- Optimize data pipelines for reliability, performance, cost efficiency, and scalability.
Data Modeling & Analytics Enablement
- Design and maintain analytical data models to support Power BI, advanced analytics, and AI use cases.
- Partner with analytics and AI teams to ensure data structures support reporting accuracy, feature engineering, and downstream consumption.
- Implement data quality checks, validation rules, and monitoring to ensure trusted enterprise data.
Integration & Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with MuleSoft developers, AI engineers, and business analysts to align data pipelines with integration and automation initiatives.
- Work with source system owners (ERP, CRM, operations) to understand data structures, semantics, and constraints.
- Support enterprise initiatives related to data consolidation, standardization, and system migrations.
Governance, Security & Operations
- Ensure data solutions comply with ABG’s security, privacy, and governance standards.
- Partner with Cybersecurity and IT teams to manage access controls and data protection requirements.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for pipelines, data models, and operational processes.
- Provide operational support and continuous improvement for existing data assets.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (Master’s preferred).
- Microsoft Certified:
- Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203) - Required
- Azure AI Engineer Associate (AI-102) - Preferred
- Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-400) - Bonus
- 2-4 years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering roles.
- Able to work autonomously and identify opportunities.
- Experience supporting AI/ML projects or advanced analytics use cases.
- Proven track record with Agile methodologies.
- Experience with Agile project management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, or similar).
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure data services, including some combination of:
- Microsoft Fabric experience (Databricks/Snowflakes accepted)
- Azure Data Factory
- Azure Synapse Analytics
- Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2
- Advanced SQL skills and experience building performant analytical queries.
- Experience with Python and/or PySpark for data transformation and orchestration.
- Experience designing and maintaining data models for BI and analytics use cases.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, version control (Git), and Agile delivery practices.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Exposure to manufacturing, supply chain, or ERP-heavy environments is preferred.
- Familiarity with semantic modeling.
- Experience working in a multi-brand, post-acquisition, or highly distributed enterprise.
- Knowledge of data governance, lineage, and quality frameworks.
