Cost Estimating AnalystJob Description Summary
AAM is searching for a Cost Estimating Analyst to join the team! This position is based out of the Columbus, IN location.As a Cost Estimating Analyst, you will provide accurate cost estimates for new product development projects to ensure that all costs are captured prior to manufacturing start-up. This position will support New Product Development (NPD) teams as well as Operations in providing timely, accurate, and reliable project costing information throughout the entire NPD process. The Cost Estimator reports directly to the Senior Manager of Costing and is responsible for delivering high quality results on time.
Job Description
Develops/maintains estimating templates used by Project Managers to develop cost estimates.
Assists Project Managers in developing cost estimates including performing detailed research, analysis, and quoting.
Actively participates in cross functional team meetings to obtain current status of product design and related tooling requirements.
Supports New Product Introduction activities by providing cost updates and regular status reporting.
Maintain the most up to date cost data for existing products through regular reviews of production records and historical data.
Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with suppliers, internal departments, engineering, purchasing, quality assurance, and operations personnel.
Participate in cost reduction efforts and cost saving initiatives across the organization.
Work closely with the Project Management team to identify opportunities for continuous improvement within the cost estimation process.
All other duties as assigned.
The following certifications are optional, but would be beneficial in this role :
Certified Cost Estimator/Analyst (CCEA) from AACE International
Project Management Professional (PMP) for project-related estimating.
Required Skills and Education
Bachelor's degree in Finance or similiar.
2 years experience in estimating associated costs for new product introduction and sustaining programs.
Experience using ERP systems (Plex or similiar).
