Job Overview
The AV Audio Lead is a skilled and experienced audio professional responsible for leading audio teams and executing live events with a high level of technical proficiency. This role involves hands-on operation of professional audio systems, coordinating event setups, managing crew members, and ensuring successful event delivery from start to finish. In addition to onsite event responsibilities, the AV Audio Lead will oversee and support the company’s audio department operations when not traveling, including equipment organization, maintenance, prep, and department coordination. This position requires frequent travel to support live events nationwide.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise audio crews, AV Specialists, and freelancers during event setup, operation, and teardown.
- Serve as the primary onsite audio lead and point of contact for clients, project managers, and venue staff regarding audio-related needs.
- Operate and configure professional live audio systems including FOH consoles, monitor consoles, wireless microphone systems, DSPs, and playback systems.
- Mix and manage live audio for corporate events, meetings, general sessions, breakout rooms, and live productions.
- Coordinate and delegate tasks to audio team members to ensure efficient and accurate event execution.
- Troubleshoot and resolve audio and technical issues quickly and professionally during live events.
- Oversee the audio department during non-travel periods, including equipment prep, testing, organization, inventory control, maintenance scheduling, and warehouse standards.
- Assist with managing audio inventory, identifying repair needs, and communicating equipment concerns or future equipment recommendations to management.
- Complete event paperwork, post-show reports, inventory documentation, and equipment tracking.
- Maintain professional conduct, communication, and appearance on all job sites and during client interactions.
Qualifications
- Advanced understanding of professional live audio systems and workflows used in live event environments.
- Strong experience with digital audio consoles, wireless systems, DSP configuration, signal flow, and troubleshooting.
- Previous experience as an AV technician, Audio Engineer, or AV Lead required.
- Ability to lead and motivate small teams effectively in fast-paced environments.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, including direct client interaction.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move 50 lbs or more.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Experience with Flex Rental Solutions is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to drive non-CDL trucks.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently for live event productions.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training, manufacturer certifications, or industry certifications are a plus.
Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
