Director, Bronson School of Nursing
Western Michigan University (WMU) invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of the Bronson School of Nursing. The director is the school’s chief nurse administrator and reports to and advises the Dean of the College of Health & Human Services regarding the school.
The Bronson School of Nursing is a dynamic academic unit dedicated to excellence in teaching and learning. The school is supported by 15 full-time faculty and 25-30 part-time faculty who deliver high quality instruction and experiential learning opportunities across its two undergraduate BSN programs. The school serves approximately 270 undergraduate pre-licensure students, along with a small cohort of RN to BSN students.
WMU is a vibrant, nationally recognized student-centered research institution with an enrollment of 17,000 . WMU delivers high-quality undergraduate instruction, has a strong graduate division, and fosters significant research activities. WMU is Michigan’s fifth-largest university, attracting a diverse and culturally rich student body.

- Recruiting, retaining, and evaluating faculty and staff
- Facilitating continued compliance with the accreditation standards
- Strategic planning, including program planning, implementation, and assessment
- Financial and resource management
- Fostering scholarship and externally funded grants and contracts with continued growth in these areas
- Fundraising and development of pertinent external constituencies
- Outreach activities consistent with the duties of director including community relations
- Promoting university goals and policies as well as strong advocacy for WMU and its faculty, staff, and students
- Communicating effectively with all constituents and adhering to all university policies and practices and ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations and laws
- Graduate degree in nursing
- Current RN license and eligibility for licensure in Michigan
- Record of teaching, research, and service excellence sufficient to merit appointment as a tenured professor
- Administrative experience
- Experience in accreditation
