Augusta University invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the College of Nursing. The university seeks a visionary, collaborative, and entrepreneurial leader who will guide the continued growth and success of the College while advancing excellence in education, research, clinical practice, and community engagement. The dean will play a central role in supporting Augusta University’s mission as Georgia’s public academic health center and in addressing the state’s nursing workforce needs.
The College of Nursing is Georgia’s flagship public nursing school and offers a comprehensive portfolio of academic programs, including doctoral, master’s, and undergraduate degrees. The College is home to the state’s only public Nurse Anesthesia program and the only Master of Science in Nursing – Clinical Nurse Leader program in Georgia. The College maintains strong partnerships with Augusta University Health, Wellstar/Medical College of Georgia, and regional healthcare providers, and is recognized for its outreach, rural health initiatives, and interdisciplinary collaborations that support community health and workforce development.
The dean is the chief academic and administrative officer of the College and reports to the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. The dean is responsible for advancing the College’s teaching, research, and service mission; strengthening enrollment; promoting faculty success; supporting fundraising and external partnerships; and ensuring effective management of financial and human resources.
The successful candidate will bring significant leadership experience in academic nursing, a health sciences environment, or a complex healthcare organization. A terminal degree in nursing, eligibility for licensure in Georgia, and credentials appropriate for appointment at the rank of professor are required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strategic leadership, financial and administrative experience, success in fundraising and external relations, experience with accreditation and regulatory processes, and the ability to build collaborative partnerships across academic, clinical, and community settings.
