Scientific Writer and Research Analyst - Immunology

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Scientific Writer and Research Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cancer immunology or a related field, with the ability to translate advances in the field into clear, accurate content for AACR's flagship progress reports. Working as a key member within a highly collaborative, scientifically-driven team, this individual will contribute substantively to the development of all AACR Progress Reports, including the AACR Cancer Progress Report, AACR Cancer Disparities Progress Report, AACR Pediatric Cancer Progress Report, and the inaugural AACR Blood Cancer Progress Report. The individual will be responsible for authoring and maintaining treatment-focused content that effectively communicates the impact of medical research to the scientific community, policymakers, the general public, and cancer patients we all serve.

Responsibilities

• cancer immunology to advance AACR's robust scientific agenda.
• Stay abreast of recent advances in cancer immunotherapy and treatment research, including basic, translational, and clinical developments across solid tumors and hematologic malignancies.
• Serve as a core scientific contributor to the inaugural AACR Blood Cancer Progress Report, including content planning, literature review, and drafting of relevant sections.
• Review, analyze, compile, and present cancer treatment-related information for the development of AACR Cancer Progress Report, AACR Cancer Disparities Progress Report, AACR Pediatric Cancer Progress Report, AACR Blood Cancer Progress Report, and other Reports that emanate from the department, as well as original scholarly articles, scientific surveys, and white papers.
• Prepare documents such as, but not limited to, scientific commentaries, perspectives, and expert remarks for dissemination and use in various settings.
• Participate in AACR Scientific Conferences, Future of Cancer Research Innovation Summits, and Educational Workshops to maintain awareness of state-of-the-art scientific and therapeutic advancements and to gain necessary information to prepare written reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with fellow science writers, editorial staff, designers, and steering committees to ensure treatment content is scientifically sound, current, and effectively integrated into each report.
• Ensure all written content meets the highest standards of scientific accuracy and integrity.
• Perform other relevant duties as assigned and as needed.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in biological sciences or related fields, with a focus on cancer immunology or immune oncology.
• 3–5 years of experience after completion of PhD is required.
• A record of peer-reviewed publications in cancer immunology is strongly preferred.
• Excellent writing and editing skills with a strong attention to detail.
• Ability to translate complex science to both lay and professional audiences utilizing various communication vehicles.
• Ability to interpret, summarize, and present scientific and clinical information while ensuring quality, clarity, and accuracy of content.
• Familiarity with hematologic malignancies is a plus.
• Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills, including working effectively in a team setting with AACR colleagues, members, and leaders.
• Ability to work on multiple cross-collaborative projects to consistently meet deadlines as established by production timelines.
