Summary:

Overall responsibilities include preparing orders for physical shipments ensuring proper counts, labeling, packaging and processing paperwork. This is done while assuring that all proper safety and shipping practices and procedures are followed. The position will supervise and coordinate activities of shipping team members. This is a hands on-production position, responsible for growing team development, and the implementation of new or revised processes.

  • Assign duties and examine work for accuracy, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of team members engaged in verifying and keeping records on outgoing shipments
  • Study shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, order and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments and shipping methods
  • Prepare purchase orders for sub-outs, building or ordering pallets and wood
  • Ensure correct shipment of all orders with particular emphasis on any international and/or hazardous shipments
  • Assist team members with work process problems or obstacles
  • Identify problems and develop alternative solutions to move towards implementing alternative actions
  • Other job duties as assigned per the needs of the Shipping Department and the Company
  • Exhibit ability to prioritize and plan work activities, manage time efficiently and meet objectives to complete projects
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions, both verbal and written
  • Load and unload delivery trucks. ·
  • Keep vehicle clean and in working order.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • 1-3 year of experience operating a fork lift in conjunction with all safety rules and regulations
  • One year of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Three years experience in shipping
  • Valid drivers license, clean driving record and ability to pass a DOT physical ·
  • Meet company and regulatory driving record requirements.·
  • Knowledge of computers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to read a print
  • Experience reading Purchase Order and Packing Slips·
  • ·Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the shipping team leader will be exposed to both office and shop environments. Exposure to normal office conditions will include usual office equipment such as telephone, personal computer, printers/copiers, reports and files. The shipping team lead will be constantly required to sit, talk, hear, and type/write. The shipping team lead will be frequently required to stand, walk, touch/handle/grasp (using hands and fingers), and reach with hands and arms. The shipping team lead must occasionally bend or squat and lift and/or push up to 10 pounds of general office items. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, far, and field of vision. This position requires regular and punctual shipping team lead presence.

Work performed indoors with some potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to electronics work. Moderate physical labor to move and install workstations and other hardware. The performance of this position may require exposure to the manufacturing areas which requires use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses.

This job also requires the shipping team leader to have general good balance, agility, and vision abilities for working with shipping team members in shipping environment. Specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Further usual and customary methods of performing this job’s functions require the following physical demands: some lifting and/or moving 25-50 pounds frequently, standing, carrying, pushing, reaching and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some kneeling, crouching and/or crawling; and fine finger dexterity for working with shipping related items.

The job is performed under some temperature variations and some hazardous conditions. Team member regularly works near moving mechanical parts, fork lifts and electrical tools, the latter of which may include exposure to potential risk of electrical shock for which several safety precautions are mandatory. Safety gear and clothing is required, including but not necessarily limited to, safety shoes, eye protection, safety gloves and as needed, protective apparel.
