What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tube Laser Operator (Weekend Fri-Sun-15% shift premium) position at American Alloy (formerly Badger Sheet Metal Works)?
FRIDAY- SUNDAY- 6AM - 6PM (work 36 hours paid for 40)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this position successfully, a team member must perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. - Read customer orders and complete all projects to specifications.
- Read production schedules and determine materials needed.
- Demonstrate understanding of start-up and shut down for laser machines.
- Read material sheet tags and determine material types and gauges.
- Keep work environment clean, safe and orderly.
- Accurately count and record production activity.
- Perform laser cutting operations efficiently and effectively, per specifications.
- Work with Material Handler to make sure material for each job is on schedule and in proper location
- Set up, operate and tend to machine.
- Meet and maintain quality and performance expectations including efficiencies and productivity standards.
- Demonstrate full understanding of print reading and geometric tolerances and how they relate to the finished part.
- Measure work piece dimensions to determine accuracy.
- Operate forklift and other equipment using all safety precautions and regulations.
- Inform Material Processing Team Lead, Maintenance and Nester of any alarms or obstacles that are prohibiting cutting centers from being fully operational. This may include maintenance schedules found on machine(s), alarms signifying upcoming maintenance needed or any other issues that may prohibit current and future production or quality standards.
- Identify areas for process improvement, cost and waste reduction.
- Communicate and work well with other departments and team members regarding accurate and timely completion of projects.
- Identify problems, develop alternative solutions and gather/present information toward implementing alternative actions per the needs of the Shop and the Company.
- Demonstrate initiative and willingness to undertake increased responsibility.
- Exhibit ability to prioritize and plan work activities, manage time efficiently and meet objectives to complete projects.
- Act as back-up to Nesting
- Demonstrate teamwork by working well with others, offering assistance, responding positively to constructive feedback.
- Other job duties as assigned.
