About the Role:
American Aero is seeking a detail-oriented, experienced Quality Control Inspector to ensure the highest standards of quality in the production of precision aerospace components. In this critical role, you will help ensure compliance with customer requirements, engineering specifications, and stringent industry standards like AS9100.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform inspections on incoming materials, in-process parts, and finished products using tools like micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and CMMs.
- Conduct and document First Article Inspections (FAIs) per AS9102.
- Verify product compliance against engineering drawings, blueprints, and quality standards.
- Create detailed inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and quality records.
- Identify and report non-conformances, supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Ensure all inspection activities meet ISO 9001 / AS9100 requirements.
- Maintain and verify calibration of inspection equipment.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and drive improvements.
What You’ll Need:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree is a plus.
- 2–5 years of experience in aerospace or precision manufacturing quality control.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and the ability to interpret technical drawings.
- Hands-on experience with manual and automated inspection tools.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) and inspection documentation.
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and as a team.
Bonus Skills & Certifications (Nice to Have):
- ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI)
- IPC-A-610 Certification
- CMM Programming Experience
- Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies
Work Environment:
- Steady-paced manufacturing floor with occasional exposure to noise and dust.
- Regular standing, walking, and lifting (up to 25 lbs).
- Use of PPE as required.
