Job Description
The Prentiss Lee Faulconer Jr. Department of Accountancy & Legal Environment at Marshall University is seeking an assistant professor for a nine-month tenure track appointment beginning Fall 2027 semester, with preference given to candidates who can begin Spring 2027 semester. The position will include teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with a willingness to work with DBA students.
The primary need is in financial accounting, but applicants from all areas of accounting are welcome to apply. Candidates must possess the interest and/or demonstrated ability to teach using face-to-face, online, and hyflex delivery methods. Successful candidates need to demonstrate effective teaching ability, a potential for research that produces publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, and a commitment to participating in department, college, and university service.
Marshall University is a Carnegie classified high-research activity institution located in Huntington, West Virginia. The Lewis College of Business has the distinction of being one of the fewer than 200 business schools worldwide that are accredited in both business and accounting by AACSB. In Spring 2024, the College moved into a new state-of-the-art facility known as the Brad D. Smith Center for Business & Innovation.
The Mission of the Prentiss Lee Faulconer Jr. Department of Accountancy & Legal Environment is to provide an education that will enable graduates to successfully enter the profession of accountancy, business, and/or graduate study. The faculty is committed to maintaining a current and relevant curriculum in the fields of accountancy and legal environment through professional engagement, service to our communities, and the development of applied and pedagogical research.
Earned Doctorate in Accounting or Business Administration with an Accounting concentration (Ph.D or DBA) Program from an AACSB-accredited institution. ABD candidates will be considered.
Salary Range: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
Education
Completed doctoral dissertation and defense; Terminal degree from AACSB-accredited institution.

Earned Doctorate in Accounting or Business Administration with an Accounting concentration (Ph.D or DBA) Program from an AACSB-accredited institution. ABD candidates will be considered.
Required Experience
Experience teaching accounting courses at a university level, with demonstrated above-average teaching ability and quality scholarly research.
Preferred Experience
CPA and significant professional accounting work experience will be a plus; Research published in ABDC-ranked publications; Demonstrated potential to advance the missions of the department, college, and university, including key areas of distinction.
