The Tommy & Victoria Baker School of Business is an AACSB International-accredited institution located on The Citadel’s campus in beautiful Charleston, on the coast of South Carolina. Now situated in its own recently completed educational building, the School of Business engages state-of-the-art technology and media resources for innovative, highly effective business education. The School offers multiple undergraduate programs, an undergraduate degree completion program, and an online MBA program. The Baker School of Business serves approximately 1,100 undergraduate and graduate students.
The Citadel maintains a heritage of excellence in education, with a strong emphasis on leadership education and development. It has been ranked by U.S. News and World Report for eleven consecutive years as the #1 Public College in the South, offering programs leading to a master’s degree. It is also named as one of the Ten Most Innovative Schools in the South. The Citadel is the home of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets and offers a unique, residential undergraduate experience in a military college setting. Graduate students, including MBA students, undertake programs in the nonresidential Citadel Graduate College.

Approximately 2,300 undergraduate students make up the South Carolina Corps of Cadets. Roughly 30% of our cadet graduates earn a military commission. Students can choose from 31 Majors, 57 Minors, pre-health professions, and pre-law (a concentration in political science). The 11:1 student-to-faculty ratio ensures students receive a high-quality education. Another 1,200 students attend the Citadel Graduate College’s evening and online programs.

Position Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting.
- Maintain Scholarly Academic (SA) status through ongoing high-quality peer-reviewed publications and other scholarly activities, in accordance with Baker School of Business criteria.
- Advise and mentor accounting majors, supporting their academic, professional, and ethical development.
- Actively promote the accounting program both within the institution and externally through professional engagement.
- Participate in normal service activities, including departmental and school-level committee work.
Minimum:
- An earned doctorate in Accounting from an AACSB-accredited (or equivalent) institution (ABD candidates will be considered for the assistant professor level if the dissertation defense is expected before employment begins).
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
- Active professional licensure (e.g., CPA, CMA).
- Professional experience in accounting or a related field.
- A record of or potential for publishing in high-quality peer-reviewed academic journals.
