American Academy (AA) has an opening for a full-time Facility Manager. The Facility Manager at American Academy is a leadership position responsible for maintaining the day-to-day operations of assigned campuses and assuming responsibility for the working environment, safety, security, and physical assets of the school under the direction of the Operations Director. The Facility Manager supervises custodial staff, oversees building systems and grounds, manages special events logistics, and ensures a safe, clean, and well-maintained campus environment.
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to the mission and philosophy of American Academy with enthusiasm, commitment, and integrity
- Uphold and model American Academy’s Character and Manners
- Oversee the general upkeep and cleanliness of facilities and grounds
- Supervise custodial staff and ensure assigned duties are completed effectively
- Address performance issues and provide regular updates to the Operations Director
- Ensure preventative maintenance programs are scheduled and completed
- Manage annual deep cleanings, carpet cleanings, and other facility maintenance projects
- Maintain proper furniture placement and replace items as needed
- Ensure playgrounds and play equipment are safe and properly maintained
- Oversee landscaping, pest control, and snow removal operations
- Respond to maintenance requests and staff needs in a timely manner with outstanding customer service
- Oversee the school’s security system in coordination with the security provider
- Monitor building access, maintain key inventory and records, and coordinate key card access with IT
- Identify and mitigate potential safety and security risks
- Serve as on-call contact for security alarms and emergencies
- Manage facility setup and tear-down for school events
- Address facility issues before, during, and after special events
- Assist Operations with coordination and on-site management of outside contractors
- Manage project execution and applicable warranties
- Provide timely, clear communication and respond to staff and parent emails within 48 hours
- Demonstrate initiative, professionalism, and positive collaboration with colleagues
- Adhere to the AA Employee Code of Conduct
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
Requirements:
- High School graduate or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in facilities management, building maintenance, or related field
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance practices and building systems
- Verbal and written communication skills in English and demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to be on-call for emergencies as required
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and customer service skills
Other Qualifications:
- Must pass a pre-employment background check
- Must have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
