What Happens in Shipping and Receiving Anyway?

• Interact with donors to accept and process donations at trailer sites in an outdoor setting; provide outstanding service to all donors
• Receive newly donated items from our Donations team
• Help us be green and sustainable, sort and ship recyclable items
• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Work in the heat, the cold and in wet weather conditions
• Unload trailers in a safe and efficient manner

Position Title: Dock Team Member
Reports To: Dock Supervisor
Department:  Operations

Position Purpose and Objectives

America’s Thrift Stores is hiring Dock Team Members! We are looking for individuals who thrive in a warehouse setting, value teamwork, and are driven by a strong work ethic and a passion for helping others. Ideal candidates are hardworking, offer excellent customer service to our donors, excel in a fast-paced environment, and enjoy both indoor and outdoor work. This role provides a unique opportunity to combine a love for charitable work with an interest in retail.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Count, weigh, and measure incoming and outgoing shipments.
• Ensure timely movement of materials to the appropriate areas.
• Track and document movements and weights in the required system.
• Identify and document any shortages or discrepancies, communicating issues to management.
• Operate material handling equipment safely while using personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assist customers and donors at the store donation center as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.

Skills and Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Strong mathematical skills required.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50lbs.
• Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
• Familiarity with company policies and procedures, with the ability to execute them effectively.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with peers and management.
• Strong record-keeping abilities and clear communication of progress to management.
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Successful completion of background check, motor vehicle check, and drug screen.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Physical Demands:

• Frequently - Carrying up to 50 lbs., pushing and pulling up to 25 lbs., lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing up to 14-foot height, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, handling and smelling.
• Frequently - Walking on tile/concrete, bending, feeling, and reaching waist/overhead level.
• Continuously - Standing on tile/concrete, talking, seeing, and hearing.

Other:

• Mostly regular and weekend hours, occasionally working evenings and holiday hours as needed.
• Working environment includes inside of building withsemi- controlled temperatures and outside conditions with varying weather and temperatures.
