Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Care Worker to provide essential support and assistance to individuals with diverse needs. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to ensure health stability.
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed schedules and protocols.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, utilizing memory care techniques and behavior management strategies.
- Support residents with meal preparation, feeding assistance, and maintaining nutritional needs.
- Operate medical equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices safely and effectively.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties and adhering to infection control standards.
- Document care activities using electronic medical record (EMR) systems accurately and promptly.
- Engage residents in social activities to promote mental well-being and social interaction.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and team members to develop personalized care plans aligned with each resident’s needs.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in long-term care settings such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medication administration procedures and vital signs monitoring.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities requiring specialized support.
- Familiarity with dementia care techniques including behavior management strategies.
- Certification in first aid is preferred; CPR certification is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members.
- Ability to lift or transfer residents using assistive devices like Hoyer lifts safely and confidently.
- Demonstrated caregiving skills with a compassionate approach focused on dignity and respect.
- Valid driver’s license for driving responsibilities related to home & community care is advantageous.
