Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Care Worker (DCW) to provide essential support and care to individuals with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, autism, and other health conditions. Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health status, reporting findings accurately to healthcare professionals.
- Administer medications following prescribed protocols while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and confidentiality.
- Support residents with meal preparation, feeding, and nutrition management tailored to individual dietary needs.
- Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices to ensure safe patient transfers and mobility assistance.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning routines and adherence to sanitation standards.
- Document care activities accurately in care plans and record patient progress consistently.
- Provide emotional support and companionship, fostering a respectful and inclusive environment for all residents.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings.
- Knowledge of patient care techniques including CPR, first aid, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Alzheimer’s disease, or dementia is preferred.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts effectively.
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and recognizing early signs of health deterioration.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills tailored for diverse populations including seniors and individuals with disabilities.
