Senior Accountant

Ameri-Kart, a Myers Industries Company (NYSE: MYE), is one of the largest custom molding manufacturers in the United States. Job Overview: This position is primarily responsible for the preparation and analysis of financial records, including journal entries, account reconciliations, cost and margin analyses, and audit support. The position is part of a small team of accountants and other finance personnel, collaborating to provide financial and accounting support to the business.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly closing activities to ensure that financial statements and general ledgers are closed timely and accurately
• Prepare & review various month end journal entries & reconciliations in accordance with policies and timelines
• Collaborate with team members to streamline processes and improve efficiency
• Assist with preparation of monthly & quarterly reporting packages and various operational analytics
• Assist with fixed assets, standard costing, margin analysis, balance sheet & income statement analytics and forecasting
• Assist with performance of various SOX compliance procedures
• Support internal and external audits
• Assist with physical inventories

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to analyze financial data, recognize errors and implement corrections
• Superior written and oral communication skills
• Knowledge of PC spreadsheets, word processing and database applications (Microsoft Excel, Power BI, SQL and OneStream preferred)
• Overall comprehensive understanding of business processes, with manufacturing experience preferred
• Highly motivated, self-starter with good analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance, with 4 years of related experience
• Strong background in an internal control environment including SOX compliance
• Experience with ERP application a plus
• Graduate Degree, CPA or CMA Preferred but not required
