Job Description: Fire WatchJob Summary As a Fire Watch, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the prevention of fire-related hazards and maintaining a secure environment during hot work operations aboard marine vessels. Your watchful presence and adherence to safety protocols will contribute to the overall safety and integrity of our operations. Major Duties & Responsibilities Remain alert and vigilant to detect and prevent fire hazards during welding, cutting, and other hot work activities on board marine vessels. Continuously monitor the hot work area, equipment, and surrounding environment to promptly identify and report any signs of smoke, sparks, or fire. Be prepared to take immediate action in case of a fire emergency, including notifying appropriate personnel, initiating emergency shutdown procedures, and utilizing firefighting equipment when necessary. Regularly inspect and ensure the proper functioning of fire extinguishers, hoses, and other firefighting equipment in the vicinity of hot work operations. Essential Skills & Experience High school diploma or equivalent. Possession of a recognized Fire Watch certification is preferred. Strong commitment to adhering to safety protocols and regulations in various settings. Ability to assess the hot work area, identify potential fire hazards, and make critical decisions to mitigate risk. Ability to effectively communicate with crew members and emergency responders during fire-related incidents. Safety & Environmental Factors: All employees are expected to adhere to the company’s safety policies to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. This role involves working under extreme hot or cold conditions and requires the physical ability to stand for the entire shift, use hands for various tasks, ascend stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. Team members must occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
