Position Summary
The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) assists the Speech Language Pathologist in providing speech and language services to students. Responsibilities include clinical, educational, documentation, and treatment-related activities within the scope of care assigned by the supervising SLP and/or physician.
Essential Duties
- Provide direct therapy services to students as outlined in the SLP’s treatment plan.
- Assist with AAC devices and other communication supports.
- Collect and tally data during intervention sessions as directed by the SLP.
- Prepare therapy materials and assist with clerical tasks.
- Collaborate with SLPs, related service staff, and school administrators to support student goals.
- Follow documented therapy plans and instructional strategies aligned with IEP/IFSP requirements.
- Full-time, Monday–Friday (37.5 hours/week).
- 30-minute unpaid lunch break for shifts over 6 hours/day.
- Graduate of an SLPA program (Associate’s) or Bachelor’s in Speech-Language Pathology/Communication Disorders.
- Minimum 100 hours of supervised fieldwork or equivalent clinical experience.
- Active SLPA license in Oregon (https://bspa.us.thentiacloud.net/webs/bspa/register/#).
- Compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements.
- TB screening and current health certificate (as required).
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Preferred: 1 year of SLPA experience and prior work with K–12 students in a school setting.
