About The Role
Garfield School District is seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers to provide high-quality instructional and behavioral support to students in grades K–12. Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, you will:
- Deliver specialized instruction aligned with student IEPs
- Provide academic interventions and tutorial assistance
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff
- Participate in planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized student programs
- Support students across mild, moderate, and specialized needs settings
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (preferred)
- Valid state teaching certificate as required by district/state regulations
- One year of teaching experience preferred
- Preferred certifications:
- Standard Elementary Teaching
- Standard Secondary Teaching
- Standard Special Teaching
- Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement
- Compliance with all professional standards of practice
- Current CPR certification (if applicable)
- TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable)
- Current health certificate (per state or contract requirements)
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
