About The Role
The Educational Sign Language Interpreter supports staff, students, and families by providing interpretation and translation services for deaf and hearing-impaired students. The interpreter also effectively facilitates communication between students who use sign language due to hearing loss, and students/teachers who do not.

About The Role
The Educational Sign Language Interpreter supports staff, students, and families by providing interpretation and translation services for deaf and hearing-impaired students. The interpreter also effectively facilitates communication between students who use sign language due to hearing loss, and students/teachers who do not.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time sign language interpretation for deaf and hard-of-hearing students during classroom instruction, school activities, and meetings.
- Translate spoken language into sign language and vice versa to facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and peers.
- Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and administrators to support student learning and inclusion.
- Help bridge communication between families and school personnel to support student success.
- Support students in developing self-advocacy and communication skills.
- Interpreting experience with adolescents preferred
- State Board of Education Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate
- Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) certificate
- Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification ( as applicable per state regulation or client requirement)
- Annually complete 20 hours of professional development related to interpreting approved by local education agency
