Position Summary: School Aide
The School Aide plays a vital role in supporting students who require instructional and/or behavioral assistance. Working under the direct supervision of the special education department, classroom teacher, or designated supervisor, the School Aide helps create a safe, inclusive, and productive learning environment. This position involves assisting students with academic tasks, reinforcing classroom instruction, and implementing behavior management strategies as directed by the supervising staff.
In addition to instructional support, the School Aide may provide personal care and mobility assistance for students with physical or therapeutic needs. These responsibilities are carried out in accordance with plans established by qualified professionals such as rehabilitation specialists, social workers, or healthcare providers. Duties may include helping students with activities of daily living, ensuring safe movement throughout the school, and supporting therapeutic exercises or interventions.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist students with classroom activities, assignments, and individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Support behavior management strategies and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Provide personal care assistance, including mobility support and therapeutic exercises, as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Monitor student safety and well-being throughout the school day.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and parents regarding student progress and needs.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all school policies and professional standards.
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Professional Standards: Must comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
- Certifications:
- Current CPR certification (if applicable).
- TB questionnaire, PPD test, or chest X-ray (if applicable).
- Current health certificate (as required by contract or state regulation).
- Legal Requirements: Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements for employment in a school setting.
- Age: Must be at least 18 years old.
