Amergis Educational Staffing is partnering with a school in Whitman, MA to hire an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Teacher for the remainder of the 2025–2026 school year, continuing into the ESY (summer) program.
Position Details:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Duration: Through end of school year ESY (2-week break before ESY)
- Schedule: Monday–Friday
- Location: Whitman, MA
- Pay: Up to $55/hour (based on experience and licensure)
- Hours per Week: 30
- Contract Length: Approximately 30 weeks
Overview:
The ASD Teacher will lead a structured classroom of 9 students in grades 1–3. This role focuses on providing individualized instruction, maintaining a consistent learning environment, and supporting students’ academic, behavioral, and functional goals.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver academic and functional skills instruction aligned with IEPs
- Implement individualized supports, behavior plans, and communication strategies
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals and related service providers
- Collect and track student data
- Maintain a structured, predictable classroom environment
- Communicate regularly with families
Requirements:
- Active teaching license (Special Education/ASD preferred)
- Experience working with students with autism
- Familiarity with evidence-based interventions and behavioral strategies

The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator provides quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 12. The Special Education Teacher has a commitment to team participation in planning and implementation of student programs including special instruction, tutorial assistance and consultation with general education staff.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred
- Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations
- Minimum of one year experience in teaching environment preferred
- State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred
- State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred
- State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred
- Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
