What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd shift Weld/Fab Business Unit Leader position at Amerequip Corp?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safety: Promote and enforce safety policies, PPE, hot work, crane operation, and material handling procedures; conduct accident investigations and implement corrective actions; train employees on safe work practices; maintain housekeeping and 5S standards; participate in safety meetings and improvement events.
- People: Prioritize, schedule, and delegate work for welders, fabricators, and related personnel; coordinate manpower and resources; train and develop employees; monitor performance and provide coaching, mentoring, and corrective action; address employee concerns and maintain open communication.
- Quality: Ensure weld procedures, fabrication methods, workmanship, and documentation meet company, customer, ISO, code, and quality standards; audit work and resolve nonconformances; lead root cause and corrective actions; review drawings, weld symbols, specifications, and engineering changes; support prototypes, first articles, audits, customer visits, and technical troubleshooting.
- Delivery: Plan and manage fabrication and welding schedules; coordinate labor, materials, and resources to meet production and delivery requirements; review shortages and adjust schedules; follow up with supply chain and vendors; coordinate material handling and maintenance; monitor workflow through fabrication, welding, grinding, and finishing; complete required records; support startup and shutdown activities.
- Cost: Meet production goals and margin objectives while maintaining quality; evaluate processes, tooling, fixtures, equipment utilization, and labor efficiency; support lean and continuous improvement; maintain equipment, consumables, gases, grinding materials, and fabrication tooling; participate in planning and project reviews to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.
