About The Position

The Distribution Engineer is primarily responsible for planning, designing, execution, and project management activities associated with the safe and reliable management of the overhead and underground electrical distribution system as it pertains to system improvements, new business, and maintenance. The Distribution Engineer also ensures compliance with company tariffs, procedures, design standards, and code requirements.

Incumbents currently in the existing or similar career path will be considered only as lateral transfers.

Position location options include the following Ameren Offices: Geraldine District Headquarters (zip code 63115), Mackenzie District Headquarters (zip code 63123)or Ameren Missouri Underground (zip code 63103).

Key responsibilities include:

*Manage the safe and timely completion of designs and estimates within budget for subtransmission and distribution system enhancements with emphasis on adherence to company standards, procedures, and policies, including designs for new business, replacements, relocations, maintenance, system upgrades and expansions. Provide technical assistance and direction to other personnel completing designs and estimates of distribution projects.

*Work with Division personnel and other Company departments, performing distribution planning and engineering analysis of subtransmission and distribution systems to identify capacity or operational deficiencies and corresponding infrastructure improvement plans. Develop projects to correct and improve the safe and reliable operation of systems.

*Review the physical condition of subtransmission and distribution systems and make engineering recommendations focused on safety for the replacement and/or enhancement of obsolete or inadequate facilities.

*Coordinate major system initiatives and serve as project manager ensuring compliance with company requirements including safety, design standards, timeline and financial performance criteria. Participate in project development, planning, implementation, completion and process improvement efforts.

*Work collaboratively with operations supervision and other Company departments to ensure safe and reliable delivery to meet company and customer expectations/commitments. Effectively utilize and provide technical support relating to the use of the energy delivery business systems.

*Contribute to the development and implementation of Division and function goals. Identify and implement improvements in Division operations designed to enhance safety, control costs and improve productivity.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree Engineering from an accredited college or university required. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering preferred. Preference is to have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering examination or have the Professional Engineer (P.E.) License. Three or more years of electric utility distribution, overhead or underground, or related engineering experience preferred.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

The Distribution Engineer works a standard day-shift in an office and field environment which can include walking over rough terrain. Subject to emergency call-out and duty supervisor responsibilities. May be called in after hours or required to work in unpleasant weather conditions. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required. Working knowledge of corporate computer applications (OAS, CSS, DOJM, ADMS) and Synergi preferred. Must possess good customer service, analytical, decision making, communication, organization and human relations skills, and be able to interact effectively with various stakeholders.

* Technical career path level depends upon applicant's credentials.
