Position Overview:
The Web Migration Specialist supports Georgia Tech’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) Web Modernization initiative by facilitating the migration of websites from the legacy Plesk hosting platform to Georgia Tech’s centralized web hosting service, Sites@GT.
This role works closely with Georgia Tech web customers, the OIT Web Hosting team, and the CampusPress vendor to ensure smooth, efficient, and accessible website transitions aligned with institutional standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and support migrations of WordPress-based websites from Plesk to Sites@GT
• Work directly with business users and stakeholders to gather requirements and assess migration readiness
• Recommend platform-compatible solutions for forms, workflows, search, events, integrations, and unsupported plugins
• Coordinate migration activities with CampusPress vendor and OIT Web Hosting teams
• Ensure SEO preservation, redirects, accessibility compliance, and content integrity during migration
• Create and maintain migration intake forms, tracking systems, and status reporting
• Document migration processes, communications, issues, and resolutions
• Prioritize migration efforts based on technical complexity, institutional visibility, and business impact
• Assist with DNS configuration and domain transition activities
Required Skills:
• 3 years of experience building, managing, and migrating WordPress-based websites
• Strong understanding of WordPress CMS administration and migration best practices
Experience with:
- SEO preservation and redirects
- Content validation and integrity checks
- Accessibility considerations during migrations
- • Ability to assess functionality requirements such as:
- Forms
- Search
- Workflows
- Event systems
- Integrations
- • Strong customer communication and stakeholder management skills
- • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
- • Working knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards and accessible web design best practices

- • Experience prioritizing and sequencing migration projects
Preferred Skills:
• Familiarity with Git / Version Control systems
