What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bar Manager position at Amendment XVIII?
Bar Manager
Amendment XVIII · Historic Downtown Franklin, Tennessee
About Amendment XVIII
Amendment XVIII is one of Tennessee's premier craft cocktail speakeasies, tucked into the heart of Historic Downtown Franklin. We've built our reputation on thoughtfully crafted cocktails, genuine hospitality, and a loyal following of regulars and Spirit Society members — and we're looking for an experienced Bar Manager to help lead what comes next.
This role is built for a hospitality professional who loves the craft and takes real pride in developing people, building relationships with guests, and running a tight, successful operation. The right person is a self-starter and a strong communicator who thrives as part of a team and believes great hospitality starts with taking care of both the guests and the people behind the bar.
Success here takes strong operational instincts, sound financial judgment, and the ability to balance an exceptional guest experience with disciplined day-to-day execution. Hands-on experience with scheduling, inventory management, ordering, labor control, and cost management is essential — and a genuine commitment to warm, memorable hospitality is the part we won't compromise on.
What You'll Do
- Lead the day-to-day operation of the bar, dining room, and kitchen.
- Recruit, hire, train, coach, and develop a hospitality-driven team.
- Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and genuine hospitality.
- Drive covers and sales, and help grow Spirit Society membership.
- Become a familiar face in the Franklin community and help make Amendment XVIII the place guests choose to gather.
- Manage scheduling, labor, inventory, ordering, and controllable costs.
- Hold high standards for beverage quality, food quality, service, cleanliness, and organization.
- Lead from the floor every shift — supporting the team, engaging with guests, and doing whatever the moment calls for to deliver an exceptional experience.
What You Bring
- Three to five years of management experience in an upscale bar, restaurant, or hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of classic and contemporary craft cocktails, with the ability to execute them consistently.
- A proven track record with scheduling, ordering, inventory management, labor control, and financial performance.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, motivate, and retain high-performing teams.
- A self-starter's mindset with excellent communication and organizational skills, and the composure to prioritize and solve problems under pressure.
- ServSafe Manager Certification and a Tennessee ABC Server Permit (ABC Card) — or the ability to obtain both upon hire.
Schedule & Physical Requirements
- Full-time, salaried position.
- Evening, weekend, and holiday availability required.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $62,000–$78,000, based on experience.
- Performance-based bonus opportunity.
- Health insurance.
- Paid time off.
