Overview
Amelia County Fire & EMS is committed to delivering high-quality emergency response and fire protection services to our community. We are seeking motivated, dependable individuals to join our team as Firefighter/EMTs.
In this role, you’ll respond to emergencies, provide critical medical care, and support fire suppression operations—all while working alongside a dedicated team of professionals in a fast-paced, rewarding environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency calls, including:
- Structure and vehicle fires
- Motor vehicle accidents
- Hazardous materials incidents
- Medical emergencies requiring basic and advanced life support
- Provide patient care within EMT-Basic scope, including:
- Patient assessments
- Airway management and oxygen therapy
- CPR and defibrillation
- Assisting ALS providers
- Safely operate emergency vehicles and transport patients to medical facilities
- Operate and maintain fire and EMS apparatus and equipment
- Complete detailed patient care reports and incident documentation
- Conduct daily and monthly apparatus and equipment checks
- Assist with inventory management, supply ordering, and fleet maintenance coordination
- Participate in quality assurance and improvement programs
- Engage in community outreach and public safety initiatives
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Valid Virginia driver’s license (or ability to obtain) with acceptable driving record
- Virginia EMT-Basic certification
- CPR certification for Healthcare Providers
- NIMS 700 & 800; ICS 100 & 200
Required Fire Certifications:
- Firefighter I and II
- Hazardous Materials Awareness & Operations
- EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operator Course) – Class III
Additional Certifications (or ability to obtain within 1 year):
- Basic Pump Operator (BPO)
- Rural Water Operations

Work Schedule
- 24-hour shifts
- Include mandatory overtime
