About the Role
Amelia County is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to serve as Deputy Director of Parks & Recreation. This leadership position works under the direction of the Parks & Recreation Director and plays a key role in overseeing recreation programs, staff, and facilities that serve our community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support for recreation programs, events, and activities
- Organize and manage program schedules and community events
- Assist with maintenance and repair of ball fields and recreational facilities
- Ensure compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Support recruitment, supervision, training, and evaluation of sport coordinators and part-time staff
- Assist in developing and managing operating and capital budgets
- Monitor expenditures and support financial planning efforts
- Conduct research and prepare grant proposals and RFPs
- Manage concessions, including purchasing and inventory control
- Respond to citizen inquiries and resolve concerns professionally
Minimum Qualifications
- Considerable knowledge of sports and recreation management principles and practices
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in parks and recreation or a related field
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
