The Director of Day Services is responsible for the overall management and administration of both Day Habilitation Services and Community Based Day Supports for their assigned day program. The responsibilities include the direct supervision of both the Program Coordinator for CBDS Day Supports (PCCBDS) and the Program Coordinator for Day Habilitation Services (PCDH). The management functions entail strategic planning, securing a wide variety of both meaningful paid and volunteer opportunities, budgeting, implementation and assessment of services to ensure that individuals’ needs are being met and those services are of a high quality. It is essential that the Program Director have a clear vision of the service delivery for each division of the day program and brings a high level of creativity and focus to detail to ensure that each individual is engaged and thriving while attending day services with Amego. This includes consistent oversight of programs in and out of the main program building. On-call responsibilities are within the scope of duties to ensure full support and quality control.

 

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of current practices in the field and ensure that all programs practice the following principles: Uphold Individual rights and dignity; Promote individual control; Promote community membership; Promote development of meaningful relations with others; Promote personal growth and accomplishments; Promote personal well-being, health and safety.

  • Explore and secure meaningful community-based enrichment and volunteer opportunities for identified individuals in Day Habilitation Program.

  • Explore and secure meaningful community-based enrichment and volunteer opportunities for identified individuals in Community Based Day Support Program.

  • Explore and secure in-house or community-based employment options for identified individuals in Community Based Day Support Program. Explore entrepreneurial opportunities for identified individuals as well.

  • Maintain communication with stakeholders regarding programmatic activities, focus of program and participation of the individuals. This should be done on a consistent basis, at least monthly.

  • Ensure that all individuals receive professional, individualized services based upon periodic assessment of needs, that all programs have meaningful written goals & objectives & that a Comprehensive Program Evaluation is conducted which measures progress toward goals, individual satisfaction with services & changes in population served.

  • Provide positive, innovative and effective leadership and motivation within your department to ensure that our organization is a responsive and professional organization, that it carries out our mission well and that our stakeholders perceive it as such.

  • Design and maintain an effective organizational structure, which facilitates the efficient implementation of programs. Delineate lines of authority, responsibility and communication. Establish well defined, documented, & properly communicated staff roles and ensure that appropriate staffing levels & qualifications are met.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to comprehensive staff training by implementing a variety of ongoing trainings for all levels of staff. Ensure that day service meetings are conducted regularly for all staff.

  • Provide effective direct supervision & support to all assigned staff and ensure that your supervisory staff is providing supervision and support to their subordinates. Ensure that all staff are valued and treated fairly, with dignity and respect. Complete supervision and performance appraisals as required.

  • Assist the clinical department in the oversight of the behavior support plans for the individuals. Expectation is to be prepared to provide direct behavioral support to the individuals at all times. Although the Director is not part of the direct support schedules, the Director will assist with behavioral interventions, which includes the implementation of  emergency physical restraint as needed. In addition, there may be times when the Director must provide direct support to the individuals at a work site if staffing issues require it.

  • Daily support and oversight of program to ensure that program members are meeting community commitments including outside employment, volunteer work and enrichment activities.

  • Meet or exceed regulatory requirements as it pertains to Day Habilitation and CBDS programming, which include DDS certifications, ISP Regulations, Individual Records, CARF standards, Department of Public Health & Department of Labor Wage & Hour Regulations. Develop, review and revise operating policies and procedures on an ongoing basis.

  • Complete quarterly audits for each Division within the Day Service Delivery system: Day Habilitation and CBDS programs to ensure full compliance with all regulatory agencies.

  • Participate in preparation of well-written proposals and grants when applicable. Maintain knowledge of state contract procurement regulations.

  • Maintain positive and effective relations with families, guardians, state agencies and other entities that purchase our services.

  • Adhere to budgets for the programs under your management control. Monitor & control revenues/expenses.

  • Ensure that Management Plans are prepared which provide analysis of program evaluation data & recommendations for corrective action as well as comprehensive annual plans which address programmatic, administrative, marketing and human resource development activities.

  • Manage the marketing of our services by keeping abreast of trends in the field and needs of prospective individuals. Maintain ongoing efforts to publicize our services and network effectively with funding sources and school system personnel for those individuals turning 22.

Departmental Specific Duties

  • Adhere to goals and objectives in securing meaningful community-based employment and training options. volunteer options; creative and innovative recreation options; meaningful educational/skill enhancement activities.

  • Ensure that day program is kept in a safe, clean, and attractive manner and that all safety programs and policies are communicated to staff and are implemented and practiced consistently. This includes assisting in the maintenance of program vehicles.

Secondary Duties

  • Participate as an effective, respectful and positive member of the Senior Management Team and contribute to joint efforts of the agency. Maintain an appreciation for the scope and responsibilities of fellow managers.

  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the VP Adult Services Maintains attendance and punctuality.

  • Adheres to all policies and procedures relating to timekeeping.

Salary Range: $54,000-$59,000/year

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree required/Masters preferred. A Masters Degree can substitute for two years’ experience not including the supervisory or administrative experience.

3 years’ leadership and management experience in a human service

Demonstrated experience in change management and innovation, strategic planning, financial management, organizational growth and expansion.

Effective communicator, with experience developing decision-making processes and as a facilitator.

Demonstrated commitment to valuing, nurturing and celebrating diversity within the organization for staff and individuals and belief that cultural competence drives quality.

Mentor who nurtures and encourages the growth and development of all staff.

Comfort and capacity to work within a highly decentralized delivery system and centralized administrative service structure.

Understanding of complex financial planning, budgeting processes with multiple funding streams, balance sheets and financial statements.

Familiarity and experience with Federal and Massachusetts adult programming regulations (DDS, DOL, DPH, CARF, ect).

 Ability to work flexible hours separate from the Monday through Friday schedule when needed. May need to assess activities that are conducted on weekends or in the evenings.

 Must maintain the following certifications/licenses: CPR/First Aid; Safety Care(recertification in emergency physical restraint procedures); MAP; Driver’s License

Salary : $54,000 - $59,000
