What are the responsibilities and job description for the New York Tech Assistant/FOH Part Time Position position at AMDA?
This is a unique combination of 2 part time positions: Technical Assistant [TA] and House Manager for FOH. This position will alternate between tech hours and FOH hours depending on what is needed. The TA/FOH position will be responsible for working with the FOH team to provide the best in customer care for theatre patrons and visitors, as well as working with the Tech Team on the execution of all technical elements for AMDA Productions and additional educational activities on campus. Duties will include: for-- TA scenic construction, painting, props, lighting, audio, video, and maintenance of production equipment & for FOH—maintaining reservations and usher schedules and oversight of all things front of house related. Staff will provide a technical presence at all-day rehearsals, run-thrus, tech rehearsals and performances, to address issues as they arise. In both areas, Staff will provide on-the-job training to student crews in support of all theatrical productions.This position is on call and/or as needed. There is no guarantee of hours. Hours will vary depending on Semester show Calendar Primary Responsibilities:Construct, load in, and strike all scenic elements.Help source and organize props for all productions.Hang and focus theatrical lights for all productions.Assist in painting sets, furniture, and props in a theatrical style.Organize, catalog, and maintain all props, furniture and electrical equipment.Monitor performances for technical difficulties and assist Stage Manager in resolving issues as they arise.Operate sound, light and projection systems.Potential light, sound, and video programming may be assigned as needed.Train and oversee Student Run Crew in operating all theatrical elements in a safe manner.Oversee the set-up, running, and strike of production equipment to support the AMDA community.Overseeing the Lobby and Theater areas prior to and during performances/eventsManaging student usher crewManage Reservation lists and any Box Office needsFiling evening reports at the close of each performance.Directing patrons and assisting other production staff with pre-performance procedures. Qualifications:BA or BFA in Technical Theater or equivalent in experience.Previous collegiate and/or professional experience managing and training.Arts background particularly in Front of House preferredExpertise in theatrical tools, concepts, practices and procedures.Experience working in multiple areas of production including but not limited to: scenery, scenic painting, props, lighting, audio, video, etc.Experience programming ETC Eos Family, Express, and Expression lighting consoles is a plus.Experience programming audio and video with QLab.Works collaboratively in a team atmosphere and operates well under pressure.Must be available nights and weekends.Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skillsExceptional customer service skills.Proven ability to work well under pressure and prioritize multiple projects. Position Information:This position is on an as needed basis and there is no guarantee of hours. Schedule may include daytime, evening, and weekend hours.The pay range for this position is $20 -$24/hourThis position is subject to a background check upon a conditional offer of employment and a reference check.This is a mostly an in-person Position, however some paperwork may be done remotely.
