Position Overview:

The electronics technician conducts, maintains, tests and repairs electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components. The primary role of the Controls Technician is to provide detailed technical support and expertise in the Plant Facilities, Systems and Controls. This role will encompass the following tasks specifically but can be called upon to assist in technical matters as deemed necessary.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

 

1.        Abides by all Amcor’s Safety and Quality policies and procedures.

2.       Detailed diagnostic analysis of plant facilities, infrastructure equipment, mechanical, electrical and controls systems.

3.       Development of preventative and predictive maintenance systems for all plant Facilities, Systems, Electrical. Mechanical and Controls areas,

4.      Parts list, cost and timeline to complete repair / overhaul of the detailed diagnostic analysis.

5.       Design and integration of improvements to the Plant Facilities, Systems and Controls systems.

6.       Provide hands on assistance in the completion of events surrounding the diagnostic analysis, repairs, installations, etc.

7.       Troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical and programming issues related to plant controls, mechanical systems, System proprietary controls or any other equipment troubleshooting support necessary.

8.       Identification and interaction with vendors to schedule maintenance, PM’s, service, etc. to improve the reliability of OEM equipment or other used to support Production Operations, Plant Personnel and Plant Support Teams.

9.       Provides direction on Preventive / Predictive maintenance plan to achieve optimal operational reliability to include scheduling.

10.   Provide onsite, scheduled training on controls systems, preventive/predictive maintenance, mechanical and electrical systems throughout the facility.

11.     Provide phone support for the plant operations and facilities teams to assist in troubleshooting / repair of programming, controls, drives, mechanical issues or any other support required by the Plant or Facility teams or to restore a necessary piece of equipment back in service.

12  Provide on-site after hours support for the plant operations team to assist in troubleshooting /  repair of controls, drives, mechanical issues or any other support required by the Plant or Facility Teams or to restore a necessary piece of equipment back in service.

13.       Work with the site’s operations leadership on new product / equipment installation, startup, and commissioning.

14.       Development of training materials and work instructions to facilitate consistent application of Best Practices

15.      Travel to provide project support to Amcor plants as requested.

16.       Work overtime as needed to complete assigned tasks.

17.       Install conduits, pipe, electrical components, cabling, electrical hardware, motors, drives, etc. as needed for new equipment installations, controls, power services, etc.

18.       Rebuild, repair or install mechanical/electrical equipment throughout facility including but not limited to pumps, VFD, motors, valves, automated equipment, controller, etc.


Qualifications: Education

Education and Experience

AAS in Electrical Technology or Computer Technology or five years of experience in controls/automation, systems, facilities maintenance technology.

Other Requirements:

·       Ability to review, correctly interpret and modify PLC.

·       Ability to use Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Wonderware software. Familiar with Beckhoff DATA Acquisition system, and networking between systems

·       Experience with multiple brands of (HMI) touch screen applications and programming

·       Ability to recognize and understand numbers and values related to job functions

·       Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions / judgement calls based on the situation at hand

·       Proficient hand / eye coordination to operate equipment and assemble packaging for shipment

·       Ability to speak, read, and write English in order to communicate with co-workers and vendors, read work instructions, job procedures and manuals, and document information

·       Ability to efficiently and effectively use a computer and related software related to record keeping and machine troubleshooting / maintenance

Other Physical Requirements:    

    a.           Lift / push / pull up to 1000 pounds 50 feet using a hydraulic hand jack (this is the equivalent of a static push / pull of approximately 70 pounds)                                                                     

b.       Maximum frequent lifting weight of 75 pounds from ground to 6 feet overhead.                              c.           Maximum frequent carrying weight of 60 pounds for 10 feet    .                                                    d.           Employees are required to stand / walk for minimum of 8 hours per shift on a concrete floor.                                                                                                                                                                   e.           Employees must be able to work 8-hour shifts day or nights, including weekends and holidays.                                                                                                                                                               f.            Employees are required to bend; turn / twist; kneel; squat; crawl; climb; reach out and up; turn wrist; grasp; pinch; and have finger manipulations..
