Responsibilities
- Operate asphalt milling machines with precision to remove existing pavement and prepare surfaces for new asphalt layers.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on paving equipment, including screeds, concrete mixers, excavators, loaders, and dump trucks.
- Adhere strictly to safety regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) standards, and site-specific safety protocols during all operations.
- Assist with the setup and calibration of machinery to ensure optimal performance on each project.
- Support related tasks such as concrete forming, concrete finishing, rebar installation, concrete pumping, and working with concrete materials when necessary.
- Collaborate with team members to execute paving operations efficiently while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Utilize basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to paving depths, widths, and material quantities.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in construction machinery maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in heavy equipment operation including asphalt milling machines, excavators, loaders, dump trucks, and screeds.
- Knowledge of bituminous materials used in asphalt paving processes.
- Experience working on construction projects within civil infrastructure roles involving concrete work and paving.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and safety standards applicable to highway or road construction projects.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for project measurements and material estimations.
- Excellent understanding of safety protocol adherence to ensure a secure work environment for all team members.
- Skilled in equipment maintenance routines to minimize downtime during critical project phases.
- Experience with concrete finishing techniques, concrete pumping operations, rebar installation, and concrete forming is a plus.
- Valid commercial truck driving license (CDL) preferred for operating or assisting with commercial vehicles such as dump trucks or concrete mixers.
