Responsibilities: Emergency Call Intake: Receive and document emergency/non-emergency calls, gathering vital information. Resource Coordination: Assess call severity and dispatch the appropriate medical unit. Dispatch Communication: Relay critical information to EMS teams, including location and emergency details. Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate documentation using CAD systems. Multitasking: Manage multiple incidents and coordinate resources effectively. Monitor Vehicle Status: Track EMS unit locations and update response statuses. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare incident reports and maintain accurate records for analysis. Compliance: Follow established dispatch protocols and regulatory guidelines. Other tasks as assigned Requirements: High School Diploma or GED. Certified Emergency Medical Technician NIMS IS 100, 200, 700, 800 Preferred Qualifications: 2-3 years of transportation dispatch experience (EMS dispatch preferred) Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with callers, EMS personnel, and stakeholders in high-pressure situations. Active Listening: Ability to attentively gather and interpret crucial information. Medical Knowledge: Basic understanding of medical terminology and emergency procedures. Geographic Familiarity: Knowledge of local geography and address systems for precise location guidance. Stress Management: Ability to stay calm and professional in fast-paced, time-sensitive scenarios. Computer Proficiency: Experience with computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems and mapping software. Attention to Detail: Precision in recording and following protocols. Multi-tasking Skills: Capacity to handle multiple tasks and prioritize efficiently. Teamwork: Strong collaboration skills with dispatchers, EMS personnel, and other stakeholders. Flexibility: Willingness to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
