Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The ideal candidate will provide exceptional care to patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring their safety and comfort during the critical recovery period. This role requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition post-surgery, ensuring stability during recovery.
- Administer medications as prescribed and manage intravenous (IV) lines.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding post-operative care and recovery expectations.
- Collaborate with surgical teams and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Utilize aseptic techniques in all procedures to prevent infection.
- Assist in the administration of injections as needed, demonstrating proficiency in injection techniques.
- Support patients with behavioral health needs, providing compassionate care tailored to individual circumstances.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the PACU setting.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Experience in an ambulatory surgery center or similar setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in medical imaging and sonography is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of medication administration protocols and procedures.
- Familiarity with primary care practices and travel nursing is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on patient education.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a calm demeanor.
