Key Responsibilities:
- Provide compassionate nursing care to Cardiology adult patients in a high-volume, multi-specialty medical practice, ensuring smooth patient flow and care coordination in collaboration with health care providers and support teams.
- Administer oral and injectable medications, vaccines, and therapies per provider order
- Perform diagnostic and point of care testing (i.e., urine, respiratory, blood tests) according to practice protocols.
- Perform cardiac stress testing, anticoagulation management, cardiac device monitoring, and echocardiography bubble studies according to practice protocols.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, and efficient patient triage, including patient communication and education.
- Facilitate patient anticoagulation therapy management.
- Utilize phlebotomy, specimen processing, IV and ECG interpretation skills, as required.
- Implement patient care coordination and provide patient education.
- Document clinical information accurately.
- Provide oversight and support for daily clinical operations and medical assistant staff.
- Act as a clinical resource and support for peers, practice manager, ancillary, and support staff.
- Responsible for patient and family safety, reporting incidents to the manager and completing an incident report in a timely manner.
- Manage availability and proper functioning of clinical supplies, as well as routine quality controls of all needed equipment and documents.
Required Experience/Skills:
- Minimum 2 years experience working as a registered nurse in a hospital or relevant setting
- Minimum of 1 year in-patient cardiology or critical care experience
- Phlebotomy and IV skills
- Effective communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Strong leadership and critical thinking skills, and ability to work independently
Preferred Experience/Skills:
- EPIC electronic health record experience
- Experience in an outpatient cardiovascular clinic setting
Education/License/Certification:
- Graduate from an accredited registered nursing program
- American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications (Required)
- Active unencumbered NYS Registered Nurse License (Required)
- BSN (Preferred) or ASN considered with relevant experience
Work Location: On-site, Occasional travel to other practice locations as needed.
