Job Summary
Join our dynamic team as a FedEx Contractor BC, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of packages across designated routes. This position offers an exciting opportunity for experienced BC's. You will operate a variety of commercial vehicles, including box trucks, cut-away's, Step van's, flatbeds, straight trucks, and delivery vans while maintaining high safety standards and delivering exceptional service.
Duties
- Must know DRO/FRO, YOU HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO PLAN ROUTES.
- Must be able to make and maintain a schedule for drivers.
- Must be prepared to drive a route when necessary.
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques to ensure secure transportation.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify mechanical issues and maintain compliance with safety regulations.
- Navigate routes efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate deliveries and address any route or vehicle issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, delivery confirmation documentation, and vehicle maintenance records.
- Assist with warehouse operations when necessary, including moving freight within the facility or yard using appropriate equipment such as tow trucks or yard jockeys.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial driving, including route driving with box trucks, Step-van or heavy haul vehicles.
- Familiarity with freight handling, load & unload procedures, and warehouse operations.
- Mechanical knowledge for basic vehicle troubleshooting and maintenance awareness.
- Strong communication skills for effective coordination with team members and customers.
- Valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle type with a clean driving record.
