Ultrasound Technologist, PRN

JOB DESCRIPTION:

An Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for using ultrasound equipment to help visualize internal anatomy functions. Ultrasound technologist duties include calibrating and manipulating ultrasound equipment, taking images or videos of potential abnormalities, and discreetly notifying medical personnel if they identify anything concerning. Other responsibilities of the ultrasound technologist include preparing the exam room for examinations, assisting radiologists with ultrasound procedures and ultrasound-guided biopsies, and maintaining sonography equipment. An ultrasound technologist must be able to manage multiple patients and competing priorities, adapt quickly to a fast-paced clinical setting, and collaborate effectively with the care team while operating with minimal supervision.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience:
  • Minimum Required Experience: Minimum 1 year experience as either a student enrolled in accredited ARDMS program or as a registered staff technologist. 
  • Preferred Experience: 2 year experience
• Education:
  • Minimum Required Education: Successful completion of ARDMS or ARRT Ultrasound program or meet equivalent ARDMS standards for registry requirements. 
  • Preferred Education: Associates or Bachelors in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.  
• Licenses:
  • Minimum Required Licenses: KSBHA license if RT licensed.  
  • Preferred Licenses: N/A 

• Certifications:  
  • Minimum Required: BLS
  • RDMS in Abdomen, OB/GYN, or RVT  are required.  RDCS is beneficial.  If certification is not obtained before hire, then completion is as follows:
    • 1) completion of minimum RVT registry within six (6) months of hire
    •  2) Completion of 2^nd registry (RDMS Abdomen or RDMS OB/Gyn) within twelve (12) months of employment. 
    • 3) completion of the third registry (RDMS Abdomen or RDMS OB/Gyn) within twenty-four (24) months of employment
