As we continue to grow, we are seeking an in-house bookkeeper to keep our finances accurate, organized, and ready for expansion.
Position OverviewThe Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing the company’s daily financial records, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and construction-specific billing. This role requires someone highly detail-oriented, trustworthy, and capable of handling multiple projects at once. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction or trade-related bookkeeping and proficiency with QuickBooks.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for all remodeling projects.
- Handle accounts payable & receivable: enter invoices, track payments, manage collections.
- Process subcontractor payments, ensuring proper lien waivers and compliance with Arizona requirements.
- Prepare and issue progress billings, draws, and retainage invoices.
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly.
- Process bi-weekly payroll and maintain employee time tracking records.
- Track job costs, budgets, and variances for active projects.
- Assist with preparing financial reports for management (profit & loss, job costing, cash flow).
- Organize receipts, expense reports, and maintain vendor files.
- Support tax preparation (1099s, TPT/sales tax, year-end reports).
- Work closely with project managers and ownership to resolve financial discrepancies.
Qualifications
- 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience (construction industry experience preferred).
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop or Online) and Excel/Google Sheets.
- Knowledge of construction billing methods: progress billing, draws, retainage, lien waivers.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial data clearly.
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive financial information.
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred but not required).
- Bookkeeper certifications and/or licenses are a plus.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with project management software integrated with accounting i.e. Buildertrend, JobTread, etc.
- Familiarity with Arizona contractor compliance (TPT, subcontractor 1099s, insurance certs).
- Understanding of construction financing and job costing practices.
