Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and dependable Porter to join our property management team. The Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and overall upkeep of the building while providing support to the Superintendent with maintenance tasks and work orders as needed. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, has a positive attitude, and is committed to providing a clean and safe environment for residents.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the cleanliness of all common areas, including hallways, lobbies, stairwells, elevators, laundry rooms, and other shared spaces.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and disinfect common areas on a daily basis.
- Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables from designated areas.
- Keep sidewalks, entrances, parking areas, and grounds clean and free of debris.
- Assist with snow removal and ice treatment during winter months, as needed.
- Clean vacant apartments and prepare units for new residents.
- Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, and building concerns to the Superintendent or Property Manager.
- Assist the Superintendent with work orders, apartment turnovers, preventative maintenance, and general repair projects as needed.
- Move supplies, furniture, appliances, and equipment when necessary.
- Monitor building supplies and notify management when inventory needs replenishing.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous porter, janitorial, maintenance, or building experience preferred.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb stairs, and work both indoors and outdoors.
- Strong work ethic with excellent attention to detail.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Basic maintenance knowledge is a plus.
Schedule
- Full-time
- Weekend and holiday availability may be required as needed.
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
