Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Entry-Level Bookkeeper to join our dynamic construction industry team. Responsibilities
- Enter and process vendor bills, subcontractor invoices, and material purchases
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Track and allocate expenses to specific jobs/projects (job costing)
- Help maintain purchase orders and vendor records
- Assist with progress billing and client invoicing (AIA or milestone-based billing is a plus)
- Support payroll processing, including time tracking for field employees
- Maintain organized records for contracts, change orders, and lien releases
- Assist with month-end close and financial reporting
- Communicate with project managers, vendors, and subcontractors regarding invoices and payments
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of bookkeeping or accounting principles
- 0–2 years of experience (construction experience strongly preferred but not required)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized across multiple projects
- Proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets
- Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar accounting software
- Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines in a project-based environment
- Strong communication skills
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- Exposure to construction accounting concepts (job costing, retainage, progress billing)
- Experience with software such as QuickBooks, Buildertrend, CoConstruct, or RFMS
- Understanding of prevailing wage or certified payroll (if applicable)
- Coursework or degree in accounting, finance, or related field
