JOB OVERVIEW:
A barback supports bartenders in delivering a world-class ACH experience by ensuring the bar is fully stocked, impeccably clean and well organized throughout service.  With such an elevated cocktail program, the barback must work quickly and non-intrusively, with meticulous attention to detail and product quality.  This role is essential for maintaining the high standards of cocktail service, guest satisfaction and bar efficiency.  A barback must uphold the standards of excellence that define JKS, professional etiquette and compliance with all health and labor regulations. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide an exceptional level of hospitality, cultivating warm and genuine relationships with our guests to ensure their satisfaction and loyalty.
• Ensure all bar areas are fully stocked with spirits, wine, beer, batches, garnishes, ice and barware before, during, and after service.
• Prepare daily bar mise en place, including juicing, garnishing, batching and glassware setup in support of bar prep team.
• Replenish backup stock throughout the shift without disrupting service flow.
• Maintain pristine cleanliness of bar stations, prep areas, glassware shelving and refrigeration/storage units.
• Bus and polish used glassware, bar tools and cocktail utensils.
• Remove trash, recycling and empty bottles regularly to maintain an organized and safe environment.
• Follow all NYC DOH and OSHA sanitation regulations and food safety standards.
• Stay alert to changing service needs and anticipate bartender or guest requests.
• Ensure bartenders have a constant supply of fresh garnishes, clean tools and proper glassware.
• May assist with pouring water, clearing bar guests’ settings and delivering food (where trained).
• Follow restaurant safety protocols for lifting, glass handling and chemical usage.
• Support floor team with delivering beverage orders to tables.
• Complete relevant checklists and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain consistency and quality in service delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum (2) years in an upscale restaurant or similar position
• Good time-management and teamwork skills
• Pride in appearance.
• Proactive in learning about food, beverage and wine.
• Warm and professional in communicating with guests.
• Constantly strive to improve personal and professional development.
• Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
