As a Custodian, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our buildings are well-maintained and ready for daily operations and special events. Responsibilities
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
- Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing water and detergents or acids according to safety specifications.
- Steam-clean or shampoo carpets as needed.
- Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors using appropriate equipment and procedures.
- Follow established procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
- Monitor building security and safety by locking doors after hours and checking electrical appliances to prevent hazards.
- Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies manually or with hand trucks.
- Notify supervisors of the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
- Request supplies and equipment necessary for cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
- Experience with cleaning procedures, equipment, and safety practices preferred.
- Ability to use various power and hand tools efficiently.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptability to changing tasks and priorities.
- Physical ability to sit or stand for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, walk long distances, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity and vision abilities including close, distance, and depth perception.
