What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automation Controls Technician position at Ambassador Personnel, Inc.?
Love building things? Enjoy solving mechanical and electrical challenges? Want to work with cutting-edge automation instead of the same equipment every day?
We're looking for an Automation Controls Technician who enjoys getting their hands dirty, tackling unique projects, and helping bring custom automation systems to life. If you've worked as a mechanic, machinist, maintenance technician, fabricator, industrial technician, or have spent years fixing equipment, working on cars, or building things from the ground up, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.
Every project is different. Every machine is custom. You'll work side-by-side with engineers and skilled technicians to build advanced automation systems used in modern manufacturing.
Pay: $22.89-$47.78/HR DOE and shift (we have 3 shifts available)
What You'll Be Building
You'll help assemble and test custom automation equipment featuring technologies such as:
Industrial Robots
Laser Systems
Automated Packaging Equipment
Pick & Place Automation
Dial Indexing Systems
Induction Heating Equipment
Machining & Sawing Systems
Welding, Forming & Pressing Equipment
Custom Manufacturing Solutions
What You'll Do:
Assemble custom automation machinery from engineering drawings and 3D SolidWorks models
Wire, plumb, and mechanically assemble equipment
Install sensors, motors, VFDs, and automation components
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
Verify machine alignment, dimensions, and tolerances
Organize project materials and maintain an efficient workspace
Operate machine shop equipment including mills, lathes, and welding equipment as needed
Test, debug, and help commission new automation systems
What We're Looking For
- 5 years of experience in manufacturing, machining, maintenance, mechanical assembly, fabrication, or industrial equipment repair
- Strong mechanical aptitude and excellent troubleshooting skills
- Experience reading mechanical drawings or blueprints
- Familiarity with electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or automation systems
- Experience using machine tools such as mills, lathes, or welding equipment is a plus
- Hands-on experience working on vehicles, farm equipment, engines, heavy equipment, or home projects is highly valued
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology or related field is a plus, but not required
Why You'll Love This Role
Work on one-of-a-kind automation projects-not repetitive production work
Collaborate with talented engineers and experienced technicians
Expand your skills in robotics, PLCs, industrial controls, and advanced automation
Paid opportunities for technical training and career development
Be part of building innovative equipment from concept to completion
Stable, full-time opportunity with long-term career growth
If You're Someone Who...
Loves figuring out how things work
Enjoys building, repairing, and improving machines
Takes pride in craftsmanship and quality
Wants to learn new technologies and expand your technical skills
Thrives in a hands-on manufacturing environment, then
we'd love to hear from you!
