The Quality Technician is responsible for conducting all QC Lab activities, including sample analysis, recording/storing data, and the operation & maintenance of laboratory equipment. This role supports the manufacturing process, ensures customer requests are met, and manages all analytical responsibilities within the Standard Work Process (SWP) and Management System.
Job responsibilities:
Safety & Compliance: Observe and follow all safety rules, working in a conscientious manner. Accountable to conform and comply with all HSES policies and procedures and ensure the safe disposal of all chemicals.
Analytical Testing: Analyze raw material, in-process material, finished material, shipment, and miscellaneous samples using proficient duties and required accuracy. Ability to operate wet titration methods, pH, color, specific gravity, and moisture.
Customer Service: Provide internal and external customers with high-level responsiveness and communicate results between departments in a timely manner.
Quality Oversight: Evaluate and determine quality approvals of raw materials and manufacturing batches/shipments. Review and approve laboratory results as needed.
Documentation: Document all data in laboratory notebooks, SAP, and LIMS as business needs dictate.
Technical Operations: Perform all test methods without supervision within precision and accuracy standards. Prepare all solutions needed for testing and perform daily laboratory maintenance.
Investigations & Troubleshooting: Provide support for troubleshooting batches with quality issues, including the self-evaluation of OOS results. Perform testing for customer complaints, discrepancies, and laboratory investigations.
Process Improvement: Assist in writing SWPs, SOPs, methods, protocols, and reports. Participate in simple problem solving to improve daily work.
Equipment Support: Assist in the qualifications and validations of instruments and test methods, as well as basic preventative maintenance.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited organization.
- Two years’ experience in a QC/QA lab within a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Must be self-motivated, work with little supervision, and possess a collaborative approach.
- Excellent math and reading skills with familiarity in various wet chemistry methods.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to lift and handle full five-gallon cans (40 lbs) and other objects up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to work a minimum of 12-hour shifts while standing.
- Must be able to work 12-hour shifts (nights, weekends, holidays) and overtime as required.
Considered a plus:
- Experience with GC method development (Agilent Chemstation) and instrumentation (FTIR, ICP, etc.).
- Working knowledge of SAP and Quality Assurance programs (Proactive, Preventative Actions).
- Knowledge and experience in SQC and SPC.
- Experience with ShiftConnector
