An RRH (Rapid Re-housing) Housing Navigator is a professional who helps individuals and families experiencing homelessness find and secure permanent housing through the Rapid Re-housing program. Their role includes assisting with housing searches, completing applications, connecting with landlords, securing necessary documentation and resources, and providing support to ensure clients can maintain their housing stability. They require specialized knowledge of housing issues, strong communication skills, and a deep understanding of the local housing landscape and client needs. The Housing Navigator will help individuals and families experiencing homelessness find and keep stable housing. In this role, you will work directly with landlords to secure housing placements and coordinate with clients to provide the support and resources they need to achieve long-term housing stability
Key Responsibilities
- Housing Search & Placement: Identify available, suitable, and affordable housing options, conduct unit inspections, and assist clients with lease execution.
- Application Assistance: Help clients with the application process for housing programs and units.
- Landlord Liaison: Build and maintain positive relationships with landlords and property managers to secure housing options for clients.
- Resource Coordination: Connect clients with necessary documentation, transportation, furniture, and other essential items for their new homes.
- Barriers Removal: Actively work to remove barriers that prevent clients from obtaining and maintaining housing.
- Advocacy: Advocate for clients' needs with housing providers and other stakeholders.
Key Characteristics & Skills
- Specialized Knowledge: A dual understanding of housing issues and case management, with knowledge of local housing databases and systems.
- Strong Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build trust and effectively advocate for clients.
- Problem-Solving: The ability to find creative solutions to housing barriers.
- Mobility & Flexibility: Navigators often need to be mobile and flexible to meet clients and visit potential housing units.
- Cultural Competence: The ability to work effectively with diverse populations and understand their unique needs.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, Homeless Prevention Services, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- At least 2 years of experience in housing navigation, case management, or related work with vulnerable populations.
- Knowledge of housing systems, landlord/tenant law, and community resources.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with HMIS (Homeless Management Information System) or electronic case recordkeeping required.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed care practices.
Work Environment
- This role requires local travel for landlord engagement, property visits, and participant
- support. Flexibility in scheduling may be required to meet participant and program needs.

Pay: $43,000.00 per year
