What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechatronics Maintenance Specialist -- Robotics, PLC & Conveyors position at AmbaFlex Manufacturing?
Your mission
Keep our Canton, Ohio manufacturing operation running at peak reliability on a 4/10 Day Shift schedule (Mon–Thu, 5:00am–3:30pm) by maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving complex electro-mechanical and automated systems.
What you’ll tackle- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on production machinery and support equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve issues across conveyors, robotics, CNCs, and automation cells.
- Program, verify, and troubleshoot PLCs and related control hardware.
- Repair/replace mechanical and electrical components; fabricate parts when required.
- Interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, blueprints, and P&IDs.
- Coach Machine Operators on first-line troubleshooting and safe operation.
- Inspect, test, and evaluate equipment condition; dismantle and reinstall components to restore function.
- Listen for abnormal machine sounds; collaborate with supervisors and peers to isolate root causes.
- Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other components as part of PM standards.
- Install and repair electrical apparatus (transformers, wiring, machine electrical/electronic components).
- Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain piping systems; service hydraulic and pneumatic circuits.
- Repair/replace gauges, valves, and pressure regulators to spec.
- Install, program, and repair automated equipment, including robots and programmable controllers.
Within the maintenance department, you support both daily operations and long-term reliability planning. You report to the Production Manager and partner with Production Supervisors on reasonable requests that uphold safety, quality, and delivery. You contribute to continuous improvement at AmbaFlex Manufacturing through OEE tracking, structured work requests, and preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
What you bring- High School Diploma or GED.
- Demonstrated experience as a maintenance mechanic/technician in production.
- Ability to read/interpret technical specifications, blueprints, and electrical drawings.
- Strong attention to detail; follows SOPs and written processes.
- Adaptable mindset; calm under pressure; able to prioritize and multitask.
- Quality-focused with a continuous improvement orientation.
- Computer literate; proficient in English (spoken and written).
- Completed training in CNC, VFD, and PLC systems (or valid certificates provided).
- Forklift truck certification and lifting certification.
- 120/208/240/480V electrical systems and diagnostics.
- CNC machine repair.
