Description

Amazon OpenSearch Service is looking for a Software Development Engineer to build world-class applications for our customers.

You will work on architecting, designing, and implementing high-performance applications for our customers to interact with Amazon OpenSearch Service.

Amazon OpenSearch Service makes it easy to deploy, operate, and scale OpenSearch for log analytics, observability, application monitoring, full-text search, security analytics, and more. Amazon OpenSearch Service is a fully managed service that delivers OpenSearch's flexible APIs and real-time capabilities along with predictable performance and seamless scalability for production workloads. The service supports both provisioned clusters and serverless deployment options, serving hundreds of thousands of customers across all AWS regions.

The Amazon OpenSearch Service team designs, develops, and operates software that allows customers to index, search, and analyze documents at scale in a secure, responsive, and reliable environment. We are looking for a skilled developer to build the next generation of search, observability, and log analytics customer experiences on OpenSearch Dashboards (the managed UI for OpenSearch Service).


Key job responsibilities
As a Software Development Engineer on the Amazon OpenSearch Service team, you will:

Design, develop, and support a world-class search and analytics platform serving individuals and businesses of all sizes
Produce high-quality code that is robust, efficient, and maintainable
Work at the core of OpenSearch and contribute to the open-source project
Work on challenging problems in areas such as data visualization, log analytics, observability pipelines, query optimization, security analytics, and AI-assisted insights
Continually challenge what exists and explore what should be changed to best meet evolving customer needs
Possess knowledge in large-scale distributed system design and engineering best practices
Participate in setting a vision and objectives for OpenSearch UI in alignment with customer needs and market opportunities
Drive algorithm and architecture design, execute, and deliver results
Build the future of search, observability, and log analytics in the cloud
Join a great group of motivated, top-notch people and work with them to solve challenging problems in a fun, collaborative environment

Basic Qualifications

- 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1 years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1 years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C , Java, or Perl experience
- 1 years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

- 3 years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
